Happy New Year! It is winter here in Texas. Today you cannot tell by the temperature, it is a balmy 60 degress, very nice. But you can tell by the landscape- baren trees, brown grass, etc. It will really feel like winter next week when the artic front blasts through. They are predicting a few snow flurries.
The winter landscape is a great visual representation of a current home decor trend right now- white monotone with touches of burlap. In fact, I just did a table scape in this very color palette. I titled it A Swedish White Christmas. Here are a few photos.
You may have seen this home decor trend in stores that you shop. Here is one of my favorites: http://laurieannas.blogspot.com/
Her store is the perfect example of Swedish Country decor. I love her store and shop every chance I get during First Monday weekends in Canton, TX. It is a store that you can just spend hours in absorbing all of the ideas and details- tons of details!
The monotone white pallette is growing in popularity for several reasons- it is simple (in execution and look) and it is very serene. Our lives have become very hectic whether from work, children’s school & extracuricular activities, volunteering, or just simply life! It is great to have a home that is a place of escape from the chaos of the world.
May you find a sliver of serenity this new year!
Enjoy,
