On this first day back in school, I am working on new Dee Dee Style tees. My newest design for Fall 2011- Vintage Team Spirit. I love the Back to School season! I have great memories of the first day of school- shopping for new clothes, school supplies, a new lunch box, a new back pack and the first day photo. I also have a great memory of my mom taking me to register for school, walking me around the school building and showing me my classroom. This always helped ease my nerves on the first day of class. In high school, I enjoyed the back to school season because of band and football. I love football!! That love is a part of the inspiration for this new tee design. It actually has many parts.
It first started with a quilt top on Ebay. I saw it, loved the multitude of colors and decided I had to have it! I had no clue what I was going to do with it, but I had to have it. So I bought it at a great price. The next part is about being open minded. I try to listen to the market place and what customers are requesting. I kept getting an interest in sport related tees. The ideas that were presented just went against every grain of what Dee Dee Style stands for- vintage. As I stared at the quilt top wondering what beauty would transpire the aha moment hit. Well, let me back up one more step. I have a girlfriend who is obsessed with pennant flags. Every time I see one I think of her! But now this image is sandblasted in my mind. So back to the aha moment, a light bulb went off and I went to Ebay to research vintage pennant flags. There are some awesome collegiate flags out there, that go for upwards of a $100- amazing!!
