Every year there are new color trends in fashion and home decor. There is a company called Pantone, that basically determines what those color trends are. They do tons of research and put together the new up & coming pallette for corporate designers. You can purchase this information. It would cost you around $3000 to $5000. Yep, that’s right for color information. I totally agree- absolutely ridiculous! But the thing to remember is their target is corporations like Ralph Lauren, Fossil, Tommy Hilfiger, etc.
Somehow every year I manage to be one step ahead- let’s call it a God Thing, because it is completely instinctual. Here is a perfect example. I am working on a project for the Boys & Girls Club of Rockwall. The Rockwall Women’s League is donating community hours to redecorate two of the rooms at the club. One of the rooms is targeted toward girls and is going to be called the Mirror Image room. I helped develop the themes, visual concept, and selected colors. So out of my professional paint swatch box, I pulled all of the pink shades I could get my hands on. Of those I selected the wall color “Hibiscus.”
Well low and behold a matter of days later, I ran across a color trend article projecting that Hibiscus was the newest, latest and greatest pink color for this year. Seriously, Hibiscus!! I stand amazed each and every time this happens. And this is not the first. It makes me do a happy dance on the inside!
Here the paint swatch and color info., just in case you have that perfect place to paint Hibiscus!
Enjoy,
